“Vibrant gives us the power of Choice and Autonomy”

~ Rachel

Rachel’s willingness to share ideas and experiences to empower others and the community at large is what motivated her to join Vibrant. She believes that through advocacy and self-representation, individuals can bring about positive change in society. She played an active role in developing Vibrant’s Independent Living Philosophy which still exists and flourishes today. Once she spoke at a community event with the CEO of Vibrant to share the perspective of an individual with disability, highlighting the opinions of those receiving services. Over the years, Rachel has grown into a strong self-advocate and gained more control over her life.

She believes that Vibrant gives a sense of unity and belonging to the community. “There is more that we need to achieve, and we will get there through perseverance and working together as a community", says Rachel. There will be more opportunities like participating in the “Pride Parade” to connect with the larger community and advocate for more inclusive policies and practices.

In her view, Vibrant provides individuals with choices and empowers them to fully participate in the decision-making process. The person-centered planning approach is valued and followed at Vibrant, which is crucial for the clients to have a voice and control over their lives.
